RELATING TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS - UNSOLICITED ELECTRONIC MAILIt is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 11-35-27 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-35 entitled "PUBLIC UTILITIES" is hereby amended to read as follows:
11-35-27.
[Unsolicited facsimile machine advertising.]Unsolicited electronic advertising. Any person who uses a machine[that]which electronically transmits[facsimiles of documents]information in any form through connection with a telephone or computer network to transmit unsolicited advertising material for the sale of any real property, goods, or services shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars ($200.) for each occurrence.SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
