AN ACT
RELATING TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS - UNSOLICITED ELECTRONIC MAIL

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

      SECTION 1. Section 11-35-27 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-35 entitled "PUBLIC UTILITIES" is hereby amended to read as follows:

      11-35-27.  [Unsolicited facsimile machine advertising.]  Unsolicited electronic advertising.  Any person who uses a machine [that] which electronically transmits [facsimiles of documents] information in any form through connection with a telephone or computer network to transmit unsolicited advertising material for the sale of any real property, goods, or services shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars ($200.) for each occurrence.

      SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
